Wow. Dare I say, Lee Thomas is a genius. He could even test the master, Stephen King, as shown in this collection of stories meant to keep you awake at night.Favorite stories in this anthology are hard to pick. Most involve the paranormal, but I think my favorite is Fine in the Fire about a family torn apart by the secrets of their oldest son. Landfall is another favorite and could easily be made into one heck of a horror movie!
I've read Lee Thomas before, particularly The German, and he truly knows how to spin a yarn. I'm not really into anthologies, but each of these stories are so intense that I don't think I could bear an entire book of just one of them.
Please give this book a try if you're a fan of the genre. You certainly won't be disappointed.

I really like short story collections. I never know what I will find in each story. This collection does not disappoint. I often find one or two stories I can do without, but in this collection each held my interest. This collection gives an insight to the depth and breath of Lee Thomas' writing abilities. A great place to start reading Mr. Thomas, or to continue reading a writer you enjoy.
Wow! Lee Thomas delivers a powerful collection of horror stories. I am in awe of his talent.
While all of the stories are fantastic, I do have my favorites
The House by the Park -- I found this story captivating and heartbreaking. It had that 80's Italian horror film feel to it but with much more likable characters.
Fine in the Fire -- This story absolutely terrified me.
The Dodd Contrivance -- Like old school Burroughs meets Lovecraft but with more finesse and a damned fine payoff
I highly recommend reading this book.
