First book by this Author. It's not the most exciting book to read despite the book featuring a former MMA fighter. I kept reading waiting for something exciting, worthwhile to occur but it never did.
(Spoilers) The whole reason Gabriel is always doing the late night visits and quick exits is because he has a daughter (Wendy). Okay, I thought it was going to be something really interesting and maybe even shocking. That whole part of the book was built up to be so mysterious, that he wanted Cassie to just trust him. What a let down! Boo ... A lot of people have kids, it's not a huge deal. Gabriel was always asking Cassie did she trust him but if he really trusted her he would of told her upfront about Wendy. Instead of making it into more of an issue than it was.
I felt zero chemistry between the two main characters. Before long they were claiming they loved each other. It seems like they barely even spent that much time together.

- The one sex scene was nothing to write home about
- There was zero chemistry between Cassie and Gabriel
- Both characters had no depth to them. Didn't really care what happened to either of them.
- The characters had no personality what so ever. Like a plain white wall. They were just there but didn't added anything to the story.
- I had to force myself to finish the book
- The only good parts ... No editing mistakes that I seen.
Good read overall but super boring. It felt like The storyline was rushed. She kisses him without knowing his name which is okay it happens heat of moment understandable. He states he cares about her based on what? A kiss and her curssing? Hard to believe sorry. After a night of romance he hands her a gift and now she labels him as her boyfriend but he clearly shows her hes not ready to commit. This story just felt rushed.
The underlying theme is a sweet romance with a few sour characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this stand-alone billionaire romance book and read it in one evening. It was a nice escape and provided my imagination with a good mixture of ingredients to finish off a long day.
The Billionaire theme is legendary in the Romance genre. Every possible scenario has been written but the main couple often have similarities beginning with the man as the billionaire and the woman is poor, a recent college graduate or an independent & insecure woman. I stopped reading "billionaire romance" because the characters just weren't interesting. The blurb for "Playing Games" intrigued me, so I downloaded and the result was a nice surprise! I must give a shout out to author, Liliana Rhodes, for writing creative characters! Yes, the man is the wealthy one, but how he earned his money is endearing. The angst that is common in this genre almost always has to do with the female characters, but here, it's all from him! I appreciated that aspect and how it affected the plot. I highly recommend this book to readers that enjoy Romance stories, Romance with a hint of steam stories and/or stories that have independent, educated (book-smart & street-smart) female characters that don't need a man, but are open to exploring a romantic relationship, even when their focus is elsewhere.
I've noticed a common issue with Ms. Rhodes books they are kinda boring. No excitement, no trouble in the relationships. Everything moves along fairly smoothly, without so much as a hiccup. It doesn't make for a very good read. This was no different. I kept waiting for something to happen, but it never did. It wasn't a horrible story, just dull.
